To inform, to persuade, to motivate, to enlighten: this have been the role of theatre in the pre-media age. Now, as live performance competes for a limited audience and limited funds with mass media and entertainment-on-demand, what is the role of theatre in the twenty-first century? What should it be? In this session, students studying Theatre and Dilemmas in Society address this question through examples from movements, programs and applications atypical of the Broadway glitz and glamour stereotype.
