Scholars Day: April 15, 2009

Steamroller Pressed Prints

The Advanced Printmaking Class (nine students) will create a large image recording the history of printmaking. This drawing will be transferred onto a piece of poplar or birch plywood, 4 x 8' in size. It will take many hours to cut the board. A steamroller will be rented the day of the presentation. Students will ink the surface, cover with a good sheet of printer's paper, and a steamroller will run over the board in order to transfer the image onto the paper, thus creating a large steamrolled pressed print.
