While often a finished dance work is shared for an audience the process is shared only between the choreographer and the dancers. This discussion will focus on the choreographic process as it is used to create dance works for the stage. The panel will be moderated by Rebecca M. Sproul; participants will include undergraduate, graduate and faculty choreographers from the College at Brockport Dance Department. The facilitator will ask a broad range of questions surrounding the choreographic process as well as field questions from audience participants. Questions will be derived from the following ideas; what methods are used in the creation of movement? How do choreographers make decisions regarding sequencing and organization of movement material? What influences assist an artist realizing their individual choreographic preferences and the development of a choreographer’s subjective aesthetic eye?
