This thesis presentation will explore the effects the Internet is having on the art of film criticism. It will describe the evolution of the critic from inexperienced amateur opinion writer in the early 1900s to educated professional by the 1980s and back again with the advent of the blogosphere. It will also explore the emergence and use common criticism techniques, like rating systems and trailer baiting, comparing their historical and contemporary uses in print and television to those online.
