Things that happen in the legislative arena have an impact on what happens to nurses, the nursing profession and health care. Relevant topics to be covered include safe staffing for quality care, safe patient handling, advancement of nursing education, and violence against nurses. Health care issues at the local, state and national level will be discussed. A summary of recent legislative successes by nurses as well tips on being politically and legislatively active will be included.
