In this informal performance, dancers perform works inspired by the collection of short stories "Sun, Stone, and Shadows." This book of twenty short stories by Mexican writers is this yearís selection for Brockportís The Big Read. In this presentation, dancemakers, all participants in a graduate choreography course, use the stories in different ways as source material for the dances. For example, some draw from movement descriptions and lines of text, while others abstract characterization and narrative content. Choreographers will also briefly share their artistic journey from reading the short stories to making the dance works, with the intention of giving an insiderís view into modern danceís creative process.
