The Jewish religion plays an important part in the development of Spain's society and literature. In the play, "El retablo de las maravillas" Miguel de Cervantes writes about the infatuation of Jews in during the Inquisition and the Reconquista (two important aspects the Spanish culture). The purpose of this presentation is to show how the obsession over pure Catholic blood started and how it has changed the attitudes of the Spanish people throughout its history.
