The purpose of our Scholar's Day presentation is to enlighten both present and future educators as to how one method of technology can be used in the classroom. Virtual fieldtrips are a great way to introduce a new lesson topic or dive a little deeper and get a closer look at something of interest. With today's economy, school budgets can't fund fieldtrips anymore. Creating a virtual fieldtrip with Google sites is a great way to bring something that would otherwise be impossible, to your students. Virtual fieldtrips take on many of the same characteristics of a traditional fieldtrip but can also be even more beneficial. They are extremely interactive and can be designed so that students are almost on a scavenger hunt for leaning new facts. Virtual fieldtrips can be used at any age or for any subject area.
