A transcriptional enhancer has been mapped to a 455-bp region upstream of the start of transcription of the e(r)gene. Deletions in these region were generated. The mutant e(r) genes were then tested for their ability to function normally. The results of these experiments and the conclusions on the location of the enhancer will be presented.
