This presentation will examine la francophonie as a specifically French strategy to foster diversity of cultures and multilingualism in a globalized world. More specifically, it will consider the French perspective of la francophonie as an alternative cultural and political model to the Anglosaxon one and explore the political strategies that France has implemented to achieve its goals. Finally, the presentation will consider the extent to which la francophonie bolsters France's influence in the international sphere.
