Throughout this presentation attendees will be given an introduction to the Brazilian sport of Capoeira which originated in the 16th century. It is a form of mixed martial arts and dance. The roots of Capoeira originate in slavery, but it is now a celebrated art form which can also include people with disabilities. Attendees will also be given an introduction to native Irish sports including hurling, Gaelic football and handball. Hurling is the fastest field sport in the world and it's origins date back 3,000 years played by the Celts. Gaelic games are played by amateur sports people and are steeped in history especially during the struggle for freedom from the British reign.
