This presentation discusses the intersections between dance and sport. What components of athleticism are found in dance? What sports contain essential elements of dance artistry and aesthetics? What do these two separate fields of dance and sport have to offer each other? The presenter, an athlete/dancer herself, investigates these questions through written and choreographic research. She and a lively cast of eleven beautifully athletic female dancers have trained together for one semester to create a new choreographic work. This presentation shares portions of both the written and creative components of her MFA Thesis.
