Scholars Day: April 10, 2013

Racial Stereotyping in Dangerous Minds

In many films, cultural groups become non-existent and instead are blended into one stereotype that includes one idea of clothing, accent, action and food which can also intersect in other social issues as well. Many different cultural groups are portrayed poorly and Hollywood films become dependent on reductive visual clues to quickly identify which race is which, as in the movie Dangerous Minds (1995, dir. John N. Smith).
