La Malinche is historically and culturally recognized in Mexico as the woman who betrayed her people for the love of Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes. To be called a "malinchista" is the epitome of traitor in Mexican culture. This woman, known only as "Marina" in the chronicles of the Conquista, has her own side of the story to offer. Was she traidora o traicionada-traitor or betrayed?
