This presentation describes a project entitled “Electrical Service Job Management System”, which was developed while working with a small local, electrical contractor who dispatches technicians to various job sites around the area to execute a wide variety of electrical work. This project was expected to develop a software product that enabled the recording, billing, and managing of day to day operations to be moved from paper to a single centralized computer system. The principal idea was that technicians would use a mobile(an Android) device to submit job details from the job site itself, thus obviating the need for them to travel to the home office to submit paperwork. This information would also be accessible at the home office using a web application on a desktop. This project has been developed over the Spring 2013 semester using a combination of different technologies such as Java, PHP, JSON, JavaScript, and HTML. These languages were necessary to create seamless interaction between the Android platform and the web application, and develop a user-friendly system. We also expect to provide a report on some preliminary user experiences with this product.
