One in three women are survivors of sexualized violence or intimate partner violence. Feminist scholars have studied gender-based violence and the implications of rape culture for nearly fifty years. Rape culture is a concept that links rape and sexual violence to the culture of a society in which prevailing attitudes and beliefs, tolerate, normalize and even condone rape. This presentation will inform participants how feminist theory and practices were applied to the Title IX Internship at the College at Brockport. This experiential learning experience included organizing events such as the ADP Distinguished Speaker, Dr. Tillet, and presenting programs on Rape Culture both in and out of the classroom. Thus, participants will not only learn the benefits of having an internship, but also learn how title IX provides students protections against gender-based sexual violence on a college campus.
