Same-Sex Marriage, the Economy, and Hypocrisy in the Republican Party

This presentation analyzes how same-sex marriage affects the economy and demonstrates how the Republican Party’s perspective on this issue actually opposes their economic platform. The Republican Party openly maintains a majority opinion that does not support non-traditional marriages. On both state and local levels, legalization of same-sex marriage has led to an economic boost for small businesses and large organizations in the tourist industry. The Republican Party pledges to strengthen the role of small businesses in our economy yet goes against legislation that would legalize same-sex marriage and thus give the economy a boost. This presentation explains the connection between same-sex marriage, public policy, the economy, and how this connection demonstrates the contradicting views of the Republican Party. If time permits, the presentation will end with hearing the opinions of attendees.
