Brockport / Scholars Day / 2014 / Schedule

Scholars Day: April 9, 2014

Concurrent Validity of Energy Usage: Smartphone vs. Watt-O-Meter Device

We are in the process of developing a smartphone application (app) to measure energy use. An app may assess participants energy use, make participants more aware of their energy use, and provide a way of changing people's energy use. We are evaluating the accuracy in measurement (time) of energy use by the app compared to the watt-o-meter device, and participants' estimate. This study will be conducted over a four day period. Approximately 30 participants' demographics and estimated energy use information will be gathered through ANGEL. Data analysis will involve a correlation coefficient and the results are forthcoming.
