Chaos in the Resistor-Inductor-Diode Circuit

The behavior of a sinusoidally driven, series RL-Diode circuit has been studied. Both full phase-plane plots (di/dt vs.i)and Poincare Sections were obtained, using National Instruments LabVIEW. Period doubling and chaotic behavior have been observed. A preliminary measurement of the correlation dimension of the strange attractor has yielded a value between 0.7 and 0.9. The ultimate goal of this experiment is to determine the dynamic behavior of the diode.
