Guiding Eyes For The Blind

This presentation will provide an exploration of how America's premier guide dog school, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, breeds, raises and trains superior dogs to become working guides for the visually impaired. Focus will be on how the organization shapes a cute ball of fur into a well-mannered guide dog. Speakers will include a local guide dog user, local puppy raiser and other notable representatives. Participants can except to gain insight into the extensive process of raising a Guiding Eyes puppy, including obedience and socialization techniques used to ensure the pup is a pleasant companion. A synopsis of the guide dog training process will also be included. Finally, the presentation will address how a guide dog team works, bringing independence and mobility to the guide dog user.
