The Rising Aesthetic of Mexican American Modern Dance

A new artistic development in the world of dance is beginning to emerge and the visage of this development belongs to that of the Mexican American modern dance experience. Due to the currency of its inception as well as other social-political factors, published research as it pertains to this new dancemaking phenomena is nonexistent and consequently, we know little about Mexican American modern dancemakers in terms of their artistic vision or process. Hence, this journey will be about listening and reflecting on the cultural/political voices of Mexicn and Mexican American dancemakers who create modern concert dance works.
