Girl Scouts of Western New York 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place." Students will trim brushes, remove weeds along camp trails and camp roadway. Please wear old cloths that you can get dirty in and wear sunscreen. Mercy Residential Services 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Mercy Residential Services, Inc., (MRS) is a not-for-profit ministry of the Sisters of Mercy, providing a continuum of supportive housing and services for pregnant and parenting teens and young women and their children. In addition to transitional housing and emergency shelter, the program offers case management and life skills education in a nurturing environment. Students will help with deep cleaning of kitchen and living room areas. Sorting through donations. Students will also fix up the outside garden with some weeding. Please dress for outdoor work. Sweden Town Park 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Located in New York's western Monroe County, the Town of Sweden offers a blend of rural beauty, access to the Erie Canal, the Village of Brockport, and some of the best shopping in the area. The Town of Sweden would like several groups of volunteers to help pick up litter at various locations throughout the town. Students will assist with painting some chain link fences. Lifetime Assistance - Pine Valley 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Today, Lifetime Assistance, Inc. has grown into a community leader Ė and is the largest, most comprehensive agency in the Greater Rochester area serving children and adults with developmental disabilities. Lifetime provides a full spectrum of services for persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Mental Retardation and Neurological Impairments. Mary Cariola Children's Center 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Founded in 1949, Mary Cariola Childrenís Center is a special place in Rochester, NY, that serves children with multiple, complex disabilities; public and private schools arenít able to accommodate these children. Students will assist this organization in cleaning and organizing outdoor and pool equipment, indoor equipment , and garages. Please dress for outside work. Cameron Community Ministries- Project 1 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Nurturing families inside and out. Students will assist reorganize Recreational Room. This task includes, moving bookshelves and tables, cleaning and organizing books and games. Students interested in this project should be comfortable lifting and moving furniture. Episcopal Church Home 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Episcopal Church Home is senior living community that provides a variety of services from independent living to skilled care. The Episcopal Church Home would like a few volunteers to assist with a game of bingo, as well as transporting residents in wheelchairs to and from the event, and assisting residents during the game. Mary's Place Refugee Outreach Center 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Mary's Place offers a free nutritious lunch and afternoon activities program for students (ages 4-15) of refugee origins in the Maplewood neighborhood. Students will help at an outdoor Summer Carnival to celebrate the end of summer. Volunteers are needed to man various game booths like "Tin Can Alley" and "NBA Hot Shots". Volunteers will also be asked to partner with the younger kids, to help set up/clean-up the activities and to help serve refreshments. Rainbow Ridge Therapeutic Inc 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The mission at Rainbow Ridge Farm Therapeutic Riding Center is to provide individualized equine related therapeutic activities to children and adults with physical, developmental, social, and emotional disabilities. Students will participate in painting windows, yard work, finishing construction projects, grooming horses, and making items for trail course for Special Olympics. Ronald McDonald House 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester provides a home-away-from-home for families who need to be near their children while they are receiving health care in the Rochester area hospitals. Further, it supports the health and well being of children and their families in the broader Rochester community by awarding grants. Students will be doing outside work related to landscaping, under the supervision of our Garden Committee. Alternative for Battered Women 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Alternatives for Battered Women exists to enhance the quality of life and empower individuals affected by, or at risk of, domestic violence. The Agency provides a full continuum of services, including crisis counseling, support and prevention/education. Students will assist in a deep cleaning of kitchen and/or painting a few cabinets (fairly small painting project). Another room could use a fresh coat of paint 8' x 10.' Crestwood Childrenís Center 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection is a nationally recognized youth development program proven to double the graduation rates for middle and high school students most at-risk of dropping out. Crestwood is a residential campus for youth with mental health diagnosis. Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of craft, outdoor game, and kickball/waffle ball type activities (we provide all supplies). Students will also assist in setting up some tables on another part of the campus for a holiday program that we organize in the month of Dec. The building for the event has changed so there is a possibility that a few volunteers who feel comfortable moving 20 lbs tables would help with this project for a small amount of time < 1 hour. Please wear sneakers or other close toe shoes for safety. Please wear tasteful, appropriate child-friendly clothing. Twelve Corners Day Care Center 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Twelve Corner Daycare center is a community daycare serving the Rochester area. Twelve Corner Daycare cares for children from infancy to school age. Twelve Corners Day Care Center have a 900 square foot gym that has tiles on the floor and play equipment that needs to be taken outside and cleaned and then put back together. The Schoolhouse of Brockport - Project 1 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Schoolhouse is a full time preschool. It is part of Brockport Central Schools' Universal Pre-Kindergarten Program (UPK). Our program focuses on life skills, socialization, and Kindergarten readiness in a structured and active setting. Students will assist with wiping down playground, raking mulch to make even, and wipe down fence in front off building. Arthritis Foundation 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Arthritis Foundation is the only national not-for-profit organization that supports the more than 100 types of arthritis and related conditions. The Arthritis Foundation - Upstate New York Chapter is holding its Rochester Marathon on Saturday, September 18th. Students will fill goody bags to be given out to participants the day of the event. These bags need to be completed prior to the event. In addition to fulfilling the bags, volunteers will also put together boxes that the bags will be placed in. The project will take place at the Chapter office located on Monroe Avenue. St. Ann's Community 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T St. Annís Community is one of Rochesterís largest assisted living facilities for the elderly. Students will assist with a Bingo party activity. Students will also help push wheelchairs to our Auditorium, play one to one Bingo with Residents, and have to opportunity to call Bingo. Seneca Park Zoo 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Zoo continues to be one of the leading attractions in this area. Improvements continue to enhance the Zoo experience. Students assist in putting down new mulch and dirt as well as raking, easy landscaping, and light handyman work. please dress for weather and prepare to get hands dirty. Arnett Branch Library 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Arnett Branch Library - built in 1973 - is spacious and comfortable, featuring 12,000 sq. ft. and ample parking. The library has a childrenís room and Teen Center. Students will paint the walls of our Community Room. We will provide paint and equipment. St. Rocco Italian Festival Preparation 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Saint Rocco School is a faith community built upon the beliefs of the Catholic Church. We believe that respect for God, others, and self forms a family-like environment. We are committed to quality Catholic education to all elementary students. Our Mission is based on Gospel Values. Swan Library 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Swan Library is the local community library in Albion. Swan library would like students to assist with dusting shelves, organizing books and vacuuming. Students will also assist in landscaping work in flower garden, thorough cleaning of the library, shelf reading, if not enough other projects (cleaning includes dusting woodwork, washing tile floor in vestibule, washing back staircase, vacuuming all carpets thoroughly). Painting includes painting trim (recently replaced) in children's library, painting back steps and porch floor outside back door. Library will provide all cleaning materials and tools. Jubilee Christian Church - Project 1 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Jubilee Christian Church is a family church dedicated to refreshing and restoring people's lives. At the Clarkson Good Neighbor Event held at Hafner Park on Lake Rd in Clarkson, NY assisting with fishing derby, face painting and supervising games for small children, making & handing out free popcorn & assisting with tear down of tent and supplies at end of event. Community Place of Greater Rochester - Project 1 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Community Place of Greater Rochester, Inc. (CPGR) ensures the delivery of cost-effective, high-quality developmental and social programs and services to residents in the northeast sector of Rochester, New York and throughout the greater Rochester area. Students will assist in an agency Vehicle Spruce Up. The agency has four vans that receive heavy use to transport our clients. Students will wash and clean interiors and exteriors to get the vehicles ready for the school year. Community Place of Greater Rochester - Project 2 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Community Place of Greater Rochester, Inc. (CPGR) ensures the delivery of cost-effective, high-quality developmental and social programs and services to residents in the northeast sector of Rochester, New York and throughout the greater Rochester area. Volunteers will participate in a Neighborhood Outreach walk. They will leave information (door hangers) at homes along Parsells Avenue to encourage participation in our fall youth programs. Hamilton Manor Nursing home 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Hamilton Manor, Latta Road Nursing Home and Latta Road A have been owned and operated by the Richardson family for over 30 years. Morris and Eleanor Richardson began their commitment to caring with the opening of Hamilton Manor is 1964. Today, their son Daniel Richardson is a licensed nursing home administrator who is carrying on their vision and commitment. Students will socialize and play bingo with the residents. Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Rochester is a community of over 250 Roman Catholic women religious. Beyond our Congregation, we number over 100 Associates and countless supporters and friends. Students will help the Sisters of Saint Joseph clean up the grave site areas at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The sisters will be present to offer help and share the rich history of the SSJ's. In the event of bad weather students will help cleaning our school, Nazareth Elementary. Flower City Habitat for Humanity ReStore 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Flower City Habitat for Humanity is a non-denominational Christian housing ministry dedicated to eliminating substandard and poverty housing in Rochester, NY. Since 1984, Flower City Habitat for Humanity has built or renovated 180 homes, and is one of the largest Habitat affiliates in the northeastern US. The ReStore offers a casual, friendly retail environment. Volunteers play a major role in helping to keep the store stocked, clean, neat and functioning efficiently and professionally. Safety is important, and is emphasized no matter what task a volunteer performs. Individuals and volunteer groups are needed to assist with sorting and preparing donations, pricing, re-stocking and tidying up shelves and the sales floor, and with assisting customers with loading purchases or finding their way around the store. 1st Presbyterian Church 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The First Presbyterian Church believes that the vision for the people of God includes everyone. Students will assist in scraping & painting various areas in the education building, including halls, bathrooms & dining room. Students will also assist in cleaning out the furnace room & moving spare roof tiles. Step By Step of Rochester 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The mission of Step by Step is to empower women who are, have been, or are at risk of being incarcerated to claim their strengths and build healthy lives for themselves and their families. Volunteers will assist in an office restoration day! Since services have been expanded to working with our female population within the community, much of this outreach work is conducted within our outdated office space. Students will repaint some walls, remove wallpaper,and do some minor cleaning like window washing and also adding some new color to our bleak gardens. The organization also has workshop materials that could be prepared for upcoming programming, mailings that need to be arranged as well as some additional clerical assistance. Cameron Community Ministries- Project 2 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Cameron Community Ministries We offer a wide range of children's and adult clothing, shoes, accessories, undergarments and socks, linens, and small housewares. Students will assist in the clothing house change over from summer to winter items. This includes, moving clothes from storage, packing summer items up to move into storage, folding, organizing, cleaning the Clothing House. Open Door Mission 1 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Open Door Mission, Inc. of Rochester, New York is a not-for-profit ministry, founded in prayer, to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the last, the least, and the lost of our community prompted through the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is supported by the continuing prayer and contributions of others. Brockport Athletics 1:30 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Brockport Athletics needs volunteers to assist in cleaning the Tuttle athletic complex in preparation for the upcoming academic year. Volunteers should wear sneakers and sweat clothes.
Hamlin Recreation 1:30 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Town of Hamlin Recreation Department believes in the philosophy of offering quality recreational and educational activities to the Hamlin Community at an affordable and reasonable cost. Recreation and leisure activities are continually changing with changing lifestyles. Our goal is to keep abreast with changing needs of the residents of the town and continually update activities to keep pace with community growth. Students will assist with painting, cleaning, organizing summer sports equipment and making props for a haunted house. Please wear your work clothes for this project. Hamlin Beach State Park 1:30 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Hamlin Beach State Park's clear water, sandy beaches and 264 tent and trailer campsites bring thousands of visitors to the park each year. The Yanty Creek Marsh area at the east end of the park has a mile long self-guided nature trail. In addition, there are 10 miles of hiking and biking trails, as well as snowmobile and cross-country skiing trails. Students will till the mulch on the playground, clear the brush and sticks from the Yanty Scout Trail, clear the brush and debris from the camping area, clean up the trash and debris from the coastal area and clean up the weeds, trash and debris from selected parking lots. Lifetime Assistance - Idlewood 1:30 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Individuals at Lifetime Assistance have a range of developmental disabilities and are a part of the Lifetime Assistance family pursuing independent living skills. They are seeking 3 males to do household chores, work with guys in garden, enjoy ice cream sundaes with the residents, play ladder golf. Enjoy an afternoon of recreation. Fairport Music & Food Festival 1:30 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Town of Fairport is hosting their annual music and food festival to benefit Golisano Childrenís Hospital. The Festival needs volunteers to help with general set-up, traffic control, cleaning and trash pick-up, t-shirt and beverage sales and volunteer check-in. Stepping Stones Learning Center 1:30 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T The Stepping Stones Learning Center is a fully inclusive early childhood program that services children with special needs alongside their typically developing peers. They offer a wide variety of early childhood services. Students will work outdoors moving clean fill into a playground area, planting, general outdoor clean up, and painting chain link fence Students will also work indoors assisting with general cleaning of furniture, walls, and toys in several rooms. Latta Road A Nursing Home 1:30 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Latta Road Nursing Home believes that a small, home-like environment provides the opportunity for loving, nurturing care. The Hamilton Manor and Latta Road Nursing Homes are located in a campus environment. Each building is limited to forty residents. Our small population allows staff to take the time to be patient, to get to know each resident and to interact on a personal level. St. John Lutheran Early Childhood Program 1:30 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T LCMS Church and Early Childhood Active Church with many outreach programs including Missionary support, Short term mission projects & Military Support. The Early Childhood program provides day care for children from 6 week through 5th grade as well as a pre school program for 3 and 4 year olds. Students will help spread mulch on a nature trail and paint play ground equipment including picnic tables. Students will be sorting clothes and reorganizing the clothes. Students interested in this project should wear comfortable clothing. Kiddie Kollege Childcare Center 1:30 pm - 5 pm Tuttle North Lot T Kiddie Kollege provides a nurturing and developmentally appropriate child care program for children age six weeks through twelve years old. The purpose of Kiddie Kollegeís program is to enhance the lives of young children in a continuous learning environment and reinforce your childís development through emotional, social, intellectual and physical growth during their early childhood years. Students will help by scrubbing all colored children's plastic chairs & tables, painting all 7 children's bathrooms, staff lounge, kitchen, office & front and back hallways, and shampooing all 17 area rugs. Students will also help by washing, dusting, and cleaning all surfaces of cabinets, doors, windows, shelf units, sinks, fridges, stoves and counter tops. Students will do arts and craft projects with individuals. An email will be sent out prior to Welcome Week with instructions on project and the bus transportation details.
