Register for Your College at Brockport Course(s):

Register for your College at Brockport SLN class online at www.brockport.edu/etc/online.html and be sure to "Affirm Your Enrollment and Accept Financial Responsibility." Contact Sue Derry at The College at Brockport at (585) 395-5734 or sderry@brockport.edu with registration questions. You are responsible for completing all course schedule changes with the Office of Registration and Records.

Access Your Brockport E-mail and Drake Library Services Using Your NetID:

Enrolled Brockport SLN students are assigned a NetID to access computing and technology resources at The College at Brockport (i.e., e-mail, Webmail, ANGEL, and Drake Library services). These resources can assist you in completing many learning activities in your online course. To obtain your NetID, go to this Web site and follow the instructions: www.brockport.edu/its/netid.html.

NOTE: Your student Banner ID is printed on your registration enrollment forms, bills, etc., or find it at this site: http://www.brockport.edu/its/itss/docs/banner/id.html

Learn the ANGEL LMS:

Your SLN course is delivered via the ANGEL Learning Management System (LMS). Access your course via this Web address: www.brockport.edu/bounce/angel.

NOTE: You may also click on the link at the blue sidebar to the left titled "Access your SLN Courseson ANGEL " to access your course.

Familiarize yourself with ANGEL as soon as possible. A Student QuickStart Guide is available online at: www.angellearning.com/Support/documents/end-users/angel_73/quickStart.asp. Follow the instructions provided to download the manual.

Test Your Skills:
To test your computer skills, go to computerskills.brockport.edu. The Computer Skills Exam is not required in order to participate in an online course, but taking the Practice Exam is encouraged.

Install Virus Protection:
If you do not have anti-virus software (e.g., McAfee or Norton), please contact Information Technology Services (ITS) at Brockport at (585) 395-5151 to request a copy. Be sure to set it to update the virus definition files at least once a week. Consider using a personal firewall product, particularly if you use cable or a DSL connection to the Internet. Personal firewalls do cost money, but consider how much a loss of data or your computer would set you back.

Verify System Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:
-Access to a computer with the minimum of a Pentium II processor, 64 MB RAM, and a 56K baud modem; Macintosh users must have a System 10.3 or higher.
-An Internet connection to the World Wide Web and a valid, working Internet e-mail account.

-Your instructor may have additional technical specifications and/or assign specific software or hardware for requirements for your course.

Communicate with Your Professor and Your Classmates:
SLN students typically communicate with their professor entirely within the ANGEL Learning Management system via Discussion Forums and Course Mail. In order to set up your private e-mail folder within the ANGEL LMS, you need to send your instructor an
e-mail from within ANGEL Course Mail as soon as possible.

Confirm Transferability of SLN Courses into Your Current SUNY Brockport Major/Program:
You must contact your advisor or the department chairperson in your academic program to receive advisement. Your advisor will assist you in choosing the right SLN courses to fit into your current program. If your course has prerequisites listed, be sure to verify your eligibility to register for that course and obtain any necessary permission codes. Undergraduate "Undecided" majors may contact Academic Advisement at (585) 395-2711 to schedule advisement or go to www.brockport.edu/~acadvise/. Graduate-level students should consult their graduate department directly. Contact information may be found at: www.brockport.edu/graduate/programs.html.
