Discover your talents with metals! Sign up now for a metals class offered through The College at Brockport. We’re offering an exciting Fabrication and Forging summer course at our off campus site at Mahany Welding Supply, 115 Fed Ex Way, Rochester, NY 14624, just off of I-490.

Learn techniques for hammering metal, both hot and cold, and forming sheet metal into three-dimensional shapes. Additionally, students will learn both ferrous and nonferrous techniques for cutting, joining, shaping and finishing metal. Techniques covered will include shearing, sawing, soldering, welding, patination as well as others.

These are two-week intensive special session classes running concurrently.

9 am - noon and 12:30 - 2:30 pm
(with a noon-12:30 pm lunch break)

ART 381.51 ~ Metals: Fabrication ~ 3 undergraduate credits
Introduces 3-dimensional design concepts using basic jewelry disciplines. Emphasizes the study of design form through metal-working techniques, using and integrating various materials, metal, wood, plastic, glass, stone and synthetic materials.

ART 382.51 ~ Metals: Forging ~ 3 undergraduate credits
Provides a continuation of ART 381. Focuses on intermediate design and studio procedure.
