EOP Honors Achievement
"EOP Gives Voice to the Unheard Scholar" was the theme when the Educational Opportunity Program celebrated its 19th Annual Honors and Recognition Banquet, April 4, in the New York Room, Cooper Hall.

The EOP recognized graduating seniors who will complete their bachelor's degree in May or August. This year 164 students were recognized in categories, ranging from outstanding contributions to the college or community; artistic, athletic and leadership ability; academic excellence (GPA of 3.0 or above for one or two semesters, and/or overall), and the most improved GPA.

Social work major Shannon Reisman was named EOP senior scholar for 1997-98 with a GPA of 3.78. Reisman was unable to attend the banquet. Her remarks were read by Terrence Barnes, EOP.

Marvella Heard, who has the second highest GPA, addressed the graduating class and honorees. She described what "educational opportunity program" meant to her. She also mentioned the benefits of EOP, and the help and support she received from the program.

Nora Bell, financial aid, was awarded the EOP Service Award
