Sexual Harassment

Brockport is committed to maintaining a campus environment that promotes dignity and respect for all individuals within the parameters that provide for freedom of thought, expression, and the flourishing of ideas. Sexual harassment undermines these ideals as well as the College's overall mission as an educational institution. Student employees have a right to an educational and/or employment setting that is free from sexual harassment.

Sexual Harassment is conduct, including physical contact, advances, and comments in person and/or via phone, text message, email, or other electronic medium, that is (a) unwelcome; (b) based on sex or gender stereotypes; and (c) is so severe or pervasive that it unreasonably interferes with a person's academic performance or equal opportunity to participate in or benefit from College programs or activities.

Examples of sexual harassment in the workplace are unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical harassment of a sexual nature such as:

  • Unwelcome touching, kissing, hugging, or massaging;
  • Belittling remarks about a person's gender, or belittling remarks about a person's sexual orientation based on gender-stereotyping; or
  • Inappropriate sexual innuendos or humor

If you believe that you are a victim of sexual harassment we recommend that you report the incident to one of the following college officials:

  • Worksite supervisor if you feel comfortable discussing the incident with your supervisor.
