Senior Buddies

Senior Buddies

The senior buddy project was designed to start up a networking program between junior and senior-year social-work majors. All juniors were given the name and number of a senior-year social-work major to contact in case they had any problems with a course, questions about a teaching style of a professor, etc. Seniors, generously, volunteered their names and numbers to help out the juniors and juniors were able to contact them anytime with any questions or concerns. This idea stemmed from a bunch of "stressed-out" juniors from last year who wished they had someone "older" and "wiser" whom they could contact to guide them through their junior-year's hardships and struggles. It is hard to come into the social-work program and not know what to expect and even harder to have no one to talk to! The juniors were provided with the name and phone number of their senior buddy in their departmental mailbox and were encouraged to call their "buddy" ASAP. If they did not receive the name of their buddy in their mailbox, they were encouraged to call Jennifer Kaminskas, the senior buddy coordinator, with any questions or concerns.
