Student Employee Final Exam

Please answer the following five questions correctly, and then move to the final section.

1. Sexual harassment is defined as
a) unwelcome physical contact
b) unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature
c) anything that makes you uncomfortable
d) suggestive jokes, posters, or other communication

2. Benefits available to student employees include
a) sick leave
b) workers compensation
c) paid vacation
d) paid holidays

3. Students may work
a) up to 40 hours per week during breaks, and up to 20 hours per week when classes are in session
b) whatever schedule the supervisor says
c) 10 hours per week if paid Work-Study, 20 hours if paid Temporary Service
d) after graduating or withdrawing from school if the supervisor approves this

4. Breaks should be taken
when directed by my supervisor
as needed
after six consecutive hours, for 30 unpaid minutes, shown on the time card
after four consecutive hours, for 30 unpaid minutes, shown on the time card

5. Termination from a job
is possible after a hearing with evidence presented
may be done at the discretion of the supervisor for any reason or no reason
is not possible if I have Work-Study
is possible if I do not maintain passing grades

There are three final exercises that you should now do with your supervisor.

1. Print a Work-Study or Temporary Service timesheet. Print a payroll calendar. Fill out each with sample information and take it to your supervisor for review and correction. If the calendar is for an incorrect year, just change the web address to the correct year (such as changing 0506 to 0607) in the web address.

2. With your supervisor, practice:
- answering the phone in the proper manner
- taking a sample message
- transferring a call to another phone
- forwarding a phone to voice mail
- taking a phone off voice mail
- retrieving a message from voice mail
- looking up a number in the College Directory.

3. Visit our Orientation Checklist, print the page, and discuss these items with your supervisor.
