One memorable experience from my first year at Brockport is making all the new friends that I know I’ll have for the rest of my life! Not only that, but all the learning and growing into someone I never thought I’d be while in high school.

One piece of advice for any new student is to be open minded about everything, from school to friends! Get involved around campus; you’ll meet so many new people that can teach you so much. Also, manage your time well!

One memorable experience from my first year at Brockport was on my first day here. My RA noticed I was really sad having my family so far away that she asked me to somewhere with her. It was raining really hard outside and it was hot. I followed her and she asked me if I wanted to jump in the rain. I said, yes, sure! I was already tearing, why not add more drops. I walked outside with her and she splashed water on my face. I started to chase her and picked her up, put her under the waterfall tent and let the water drop on her. Somehow, after I did that I started to feel as if everything was going to be alright. I wasn’t sad anymore and I knew I was doing the right thing- coming to Brockport to get the best education possible and the best college experience!

Some advice for any new student would be to get to know as many students and faculty/staff members as possible. They will be your guide and support throughout college. Get involved in as many activities as possible! Start planning for post-college now, it will help ease the stress your senior year. STUDY ABROAD!!! It is the best decision a student can make, besides coming to Brockport, greatly influencing your job opportunities for the future.
