Campus Safety
Escort services are available 24 hours a day anywhere on campus through University Police. Call (585) 395-SAFE (7233) for this service.
Blue-light emergency telephones are located at various sites around campus. These phones are a direct line to University Police and can be used in case of an emergency (medical, automobile accident, etc.) or to request an escort.
Career Services
Career Services offers a wide range of individual activities and services for students and alumni including career exploration and planning, student employment, internships, graduate school information, and assistance with your job search.
Office hours are Mon. – Fri., 8 am – 5 pm, during the regular academic year, with drop-in services (no appointment necessary) noon – 2 pm each day. Hours during both summer and intersession are 8 am – 4 pm.
Counseling Center
The Counseling Center provides personal counseling in individual and group formats to all registered students. In addition to counseling on an appointment basis, the center also provides crisis counseling, workshops and referrals. Services are free and strictly confidential.
Cultural Center
The Cultural Center is committed to enhancing the experiences of members of the Brockport community. The center fosters and facilitates the understanding of all individuals, regardless of race, culture, religion, sexual orientation, age, gender, ability or national origin. The center is open Mon. – Fri., 8 am – 5 pm.
Dining Services
Brockport Auxiliary Service Corporation, or BASC, offers a number of meal plans designed to provide variety, flexibility and plenty of healthy dining options. From 7:30 – 1 am, there will always be a dining location open on campus to grab a snack or hot meal. You don't have to be on a meal plan to enjoy our great food. Gallery Lounge and Gameroom
The Gallery Lounge & Gameroom provides students the opportunity to stop and check their e-mail, sit and relax, study or socialize with fellow Brockport students. If you want more, you can play video games, billiards and air hockey while your favorite music plays in the background. You can also watch your favorite soap or sporting event on either a “small” 32” TV, or on the big screen TV. For those of you who are hungry or thirsty, light snacks and drinks are available.
Health Center
Outpatient medical care is available to all registered students. During the academic year, the Health Center is open Mon. – Fri., 8 am – 4:45 pm, and Sat., 10 am – 2 pm. Summer hours vary. After-hours and emergency care is available at nearby Lakeside Memorial Hospital on a fee-for-service basis. Medical services provided outside the Student Health Center are not covered by the mandatory health fee.
Health insurance is required for all students taking 12 or more credits. Students with existing coverage through a personal or family policy may waive the campus plan at www.aetnastudenthealth.com by clicking on “Student Connection.”
Important Immunization Requirement
New York state law requires that before classes begin all students* carrying 6 or more credits provide:
- Proof of immunity to measles, mumps and rubella
- Date of meningitis vaccine, or signed acknowledgement of receipt of information and declination of vaccine
*Students born before Jan.1, 1957, are exempt from this law.
Medical Emergencies
The College has close relationships with nearby Lakeside Memorial Hospital and other area medical providers. Because medical coverage can be so varied and complex, it is essential to have a copy of your insurance card and a basic understanding of how your insurance “works” regarding referrals, pre-approvals and out-of-area coverage.
Information Technology Services
All students are provided with a NetID to access computing resources. These resources include Webmail/e-mail, ANGEL, lab computers, lab printing and Drake Library resources. NetIDs are found on the Campus Information System.

International Student Services
The Office for International Student Services offers services designed to meet the needs of new and returning international students. The office is open Mon. – Fri., 8 am – 5 pm.
Office for Students with Disabilities
The Office for Students with Disabilities provides support and assistance to students with medical, physical, emotional or learning disabilities, especially those experiencing difficulties with academic programs, career choice, or adjustment to the college experience and campus environment.
The office, open weekdays during the academic year 8 am – 5 m, is equipped with a TTY device for communication with the hearing-impaired.
Parking Services
Registration: Everyone parking on campus, including visitors, must register their vehicle and park in their designated parking lots. The first day of class, Monday, August 25 through Wednesday, August 27, is a grace period to obtain a parking permit if you haven’t already purchased one. Once a permit has been issued, you MUST display the permit properly and park in your designated lot(s). Those without a permit during the grace period must park in lots T, U, V or X. If you are ordering your permit using our online services you must pick up the permit at the Raye H. Conrad Welcome Center. Please refer to “Hours of Operation” for open weekend hours.
Permits may be purchased via e-Parking services. If purchasing using e-parking, you must allow one day for processing. You may use the receipt as your temporary pass by displaying it on your vehicle’s dashboard. Permits also may be purchased at the Raye H. Conrad Welcome Center or by downloading the registration form and mailing or faxing it. The fee may be added to your student bill and/or excess financial aid may be used. Other methods of payment accepted are cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and Easy Money. A non-refundable registration fee is assessed. Lost, stolen or defaced permits must be reported immediately and a replacement fee may be charged.
A parking permit is not required 3 pm, Fridays through 2 am, Mondays. All visitors must obtain a visitor pass from the Raye H. Conrad Welcome Center or University Police after hours. A nominal fee may be assessed. Meters may be utilized; however, proper payment is required. If you have been issued a handicap parking pass, please provide a copy of the pass along with your driver’s license.
Resident Students
Upper-class Resident Students
Yellow permits, which allow residents to park in lots A, C, and R are limited in quantity and are sold to seniors first for $114.10 annually. Seniors requesting a yellow permit will be processed first and have until June 15 to be guaranteed a yellow permit. After June 15, juniors and sophomores will be able to apply for a yellow permit until they are sold out. Requests will be processed according to when they were received. Black permits will then be issued, which allow you to park in resident parking as designated in lot V for $114.10 annually. A limited number of lot X permits are available for $55.70 per year. Those that receive or request a black or red permit will automatically be placed on the waiting list for a yellow permit (freshmen excluded). The waitlist is first-come, first-served. You will be notified if you are eligible. Upgrades are based on space availability.
Freshmen Resident Students
You do not have to wait until you receive your room assignment to apply for a parking permit. Freshmen resident students can apply for a black permit for $114.10 annually. This permit allows you to park in Resident Overflow, as designated in lot V. This permit is sold on a first-come, first-served basis. A limited number of lot X permits are available for $55.70 per year.
Townhome Resident Students
Parking for townhome residents is available in lot Y and is granted on a first-come, first-served basis for $114.10 annually. Room assignments must be confirmed before a purple parking pass will be issued.
Off-campus/Commuter Students
Orange permits are available and will allow you to park in all commuter lots (D, D1, M, N, N1, O, P, R, T, U, V, W, W1, and X) for $114.10 annually or $65.50 per semester. Students registered for evening-only classes may purchase a brown permit to park in any commuter lot after 4:30 pm only. The discounted cost of a brown permit is $76.30 annually or $49.30 per semester.
MAP — Motorist Assistance Program — If your vehicle is in need of a jumpstart, lockout assistance, tire inflation or gas transportation, please call us during normal business hours.
Students who are veterans and have served during the time of war are eligible for a discount rate. Students must submit a completed DD214 to the Veterans Affairs Office.

Park and Ride
A “park and ride” lot is just off Fourth Section Road adjacent to Commencement Drive. Students are able to leave their cars in the lot and ride Regional Transit Service buses to Rochester.
Recreational Services
Recreational Services provides recreational and leisure activities for the campus and community. The office employs over 150 students per year.

Student Employment
If you are seeking on- or off-campus employment, register with Job Shop, our Internet database of jobs, or visit Student Employment.
All students who are employed on campus must visit Student Employment to complete an authorization form before starting work. Employed students will be required to show proof of legal status to work. For most students, this means showing a social security card or birth certificate, plus photo ID. Work-Study students who have not visited the office by October 1 will be considered not interested, and the award offer will be canceled. Direct Deposit of paychecks is available.
Student Learning Center
The Student Learning Center (SLC) offers academic support to all Brockport students who wish to improve their writing, math and study skills to meet the challenges of college-level work. Tutors for many courses, a computer lab, extensive reference materials and study skills workshops are offered throughout the academic year. The SLC, located in B-10 Cooper Hall, is open 45 hours a week, including Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. For more information, stop by our office in Cooper Hall or visit us online.
Telecommunications
The Office of Telecommunications is now offering free local and long distance telephone service along with one telephone per bedroom to all on-campus students. Just dial 9, then, the number you wish to call. If you wish to make an international call, you will need to apply for a Personal Billing Number (PBN) by filling out our form.

Weather Conditions
University Police operates the COLD Line (585) 395-COLD (2653) Nov. 1 – Apr. 1 to inform students about thruway conditions and local weather warnings.

WBSU 89.1 on the FM dial is our College-run radio station and is the official source for information on class cancellations and school closings.
