Laura ClarkLaura Clark ’13

"Being a WMS student gave me a thoughtful, developed framework in which I could analyze the world around me."

Laura earned the distinguished honor of receiving a SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence in 2013. She is currently working as a Fulbright Scholar in Madrid, Spain, and plans to pursue an MA in Human Rights Policy and Practice through Erasmus Mundus.

Sarah EvansSarah Evans ’09
Women and Gender Studies, English

"The interdisciplinary nature of the WMS program taught me to think at the boundaries: to question expectations, to recognize the overlooked, and to always consider alternatives. The implications of this lesson have had great personal and professional impact on me, laying the foundation for graduate study and beyond."

Sarah earned an MA in English Literature and Rhetoric from SUNY Binghamton in 2011 and an MPA in Public and Nonprofit Management from Cornell University in 2013. She currently works as a senior analyst with The Advisory Board Company, a healthcare research and consulting firm in Washington, DC.

Kimberly Adams

Kimberly Adams 08

Kimberly earned her Juris Doctor in Child Welfare, Juvenile and Education Law from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit in 2013. As an Equal Justice Works Postgraduate Fellow, she is currently participating in the Boots on the Ground Project, working with Akron Community Legal Aid Services in Ohio.

Jamie BergeronJamie Bergeron 08

"WMS was the place I called home. The academic rigor and critical thinking skills I gained continue to serve me today. Our small classes prepared me for the deep reasoning and research necessary for a career in higher education. My faculty guided me and built my confidence as a first-generation college student!"

Jamie earned an EdM in Higher Education Student Affairs from the University at Buffalo in 2010. Currently, she is the Assistant Director of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts.

Rebekah Orr

Rebekah Orr ’08

"Brockport's Women and Gender Studies Program not only prepared me for success in graduate school, but it provided me with an academic family that remains an important part of my life today."

Rebekah earned an MA in Sociology from Syracuse University in 2010 and is currently ABD for a PhD in Sociology, with a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Women's and Gender Studies, also from Syracuse. She is a teaching associate there in the LGBT Studies Program. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Sociology here at Brockport.
