Schedule of Events for Transfer Students

All Brockport students are welcome to attend any Welcome Week event, unless otherwise specified.

Thursday, August 25, 2016

Welcome to Honors Breakfast Reception (First-Year Honors Students and Family Members)

Take a break and stop by any time during the move-in period. Enjoy refreshments and meet Honors peer mentors and faculty!

Thompson Hall Smart Classroom

8:30 am - 5 pm

Residence Hall Check-In (First-year: Delta College, Honors College, and Living Learning Communities)

Move-in assistance provided for these students until 5 pm. Check-in will continue through the evening, however no move-in assistance will be available.

9 am - noon

Delta College Welcome Breakfast (First-year Delta College students)

The Delta College will offer open-house style breakfast for new students and their families. There is no fixed schedule so stop in and meet peer mentors and faculty whenever you have time.

Cooper New York Room

2 pm - 4 pm

Activities with Honors Peer Mentors (First-Year Honors Students) [Mandatory]

This required session for Honors freshmen will help you get acclimated to Brockport academics and the campus community. You will engage in informal activities with your peer mentors, including a campus or village tour tailored to your interests. Additionally, you will receive a free t-shirt and participate in a class photo! Please arrive on time and bring a printed copy of your fall class schedule.

Delta College Peer Mentor Activities (First-year Delta College students)[mandatory]

First Year LLC Community Meetings (All New LLC Students) [mandatory]

Join the Office of Residential Life/Learning Communities as they welcome you to your Living /Learning community. Your RAs will review policies/procedures as well as welcome you to your Living/Learning Community.

This event is required for all first year LLC students. This event will welcome the LLC students to The College at Brockport and feature the advantages LLC Program.

Residence Hall Check-In (First Year, transfer and EOP students)

Move-in assistance provided for these students until 3:00 pm. Check-in will continue for remainder of the evening but no assistance available.

Honors College Freshman Academic Orientation (First-Year Honors Students) [Mandatory]

This required session will include breakfast, an overview of Honors College requirements, a symposium on how to make the most of your undergraduate education and achieve your personal goals, distribution of iPads, and an informal meeting with your ‘Introduction to Honors’ (HON 112) instructor.

Delta Jumpstart (First-year Delta College students)[mandatory]

New Delta College students: Come meet the people of the Delta College Program—faculty, staff, and students—and learn more about the program itself. Breakfast will be served.

Not registered for classes yet? You must have your Degree Audit to be admitted into the Ballroom. Please be sure to stop by the Office of Academic Advisement in the Rakov Center for Student Services to pick up the registration materials required for registering for classes.

Last Stop Orientation (Req. for students who did not attend Summer Orientation)

Kick off fall semester by joining us for an in-depth session focused on preparing you for your college career. We will help to make sure you have completed the Brockport Bound checklist and are ready to begin classes on Monday. This session will include a student panel, an online accounts tutorial, a Q&A with upperclassman, and a tour of campus to ensure you know where your classes are. Please bring your fall schedule with you. Check in begins at 1:15pm.

Meet your Transfer Peer Mentor (TPM), interact with other new transfer students, obtain your student ID/parking permit, and learn more about academic expectations and resources available to you. Bring your copy of the summer reading selection, The Handmaid's Tale, and work with your peer mentor in this interactive session that will explore the book. Then, experience EagleCHECK, an award-winning program that interactively introduces you to the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate college life

New students will participate in service opportunities that match both community needs and student interests. To select a project, visit www.brockport.edu/serve. Check-in and departures will take place in Lot V. Please bring/wear close-toed shoes and any items necessary for your project.
