The department's mission is to improve, develop, and manage interdisciplinary art programs, and to facilitate the exploration of the uniqueness and mutual relation of the arts, as well as their relationship to other disciplines. The department will initiate aesthetic education programs for school children, college students, and community members.

The department also organizes music concerts and Brockport Chorus. The department manages Arts for Children, Art History, Arts Management, and Music programs. For more information on these programs, please follow the appropriate link.

Interdisciplinary Art Courses

IDA 210 Arts and Human Expression (A,F). Studies the arts as a means of human expression, and analyzes aesthetic, ethical, and moral values expressed in the arts to signify human destiny. Approaches from the interdisciplinary perspective, and includes art, dance, music, and theatre. 3 Cr. Every Semester.

IDA 250 Women and the Arts (A,F,W). Explores the hidden history of women artists. Analyzes the characteristics of feminine movements, and studies the aesthetics of visual and performing arts created by women in various cultures. 3 Cr. Fall '96, '98.
