Incumbent plans, develops
and maintains a comprehensive research program for the School of Criminal Justice;
submits grant proposals to funding agencies to sufficiently support all research
in the Center especially those proposals directed to high visibility, large-scale
research projects; facilitates grant submissions from other researchers at the
Center; monitors the external funding environment to identify new sources of
support for Center projects. As Director of a University-based research center,
oversees the publication of research conducted by professional research staff
in mainstream outlets such as leading scholarly journals and books; also works
to maintain the quality of the interim and final reports that are submitted
for all Center research projects. As chief administrative officer of the Center,
is responsible for maintaining an efficient administrative structure for the
general activities of the Center including supervision of the administrative
and clerical staff and general maintenance of the Center's library and resources;
ensures that an adequate administrative structure exists to manage and monitor
individual Center grants. The Director coordinates the Center's efforts with
the interests and decisions of the Center's Board of Directors which is the
policy-making body for the Hindelang Center; this includes keeping the Board
fully apprised of all Center activities including the appointment of non-faculty
researchers who have authority to submit grant proposals. As part of the School
of Criminal Justice, the Center Director ensures that the Center's activities
support the overall educational and research objectives of the School while
ensuring that the Center's activities remain paramount.
Preferred Qualifications:
An earned doctorate, preferably
in one of the social sciences, and a significant number of years of experience
in teaching and research activities related to Criminal Justice.

Directs the Hindelang Criminal
Justice Research Center, a SUNY Albany University-based research center affiliated
with the School of Criminal Justice which is d component of the Nelson A. Rockfeller
College of Public Affairs and Policy. The Center Director is expected to oversee
the Center's funding, scholarly productivity, administration, coordination with
the Center's Board of Directors and support of the research and education activities
of the School of Criminal Justice.
