This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit.
Positions in this family are involved in the administration of a continuing education program at a campus, which may include credit and non-credit evening and other courses, special institutes and workshops, long and short-term courses for professional, business, and labor organizations, alumni and cultural offerings, and general studies for the culturally disadvantaged. A continuing education program reflects a concern with the continuing educational development of the individual, offering counseling to identify experiences and interests by relating them to the academic credit and non-credit offerings of the campus. Such a program may be designed in conjunction with business, industry, and units of state and local government in developing career service programs to meet the needs of employees in these areas.
Typical duties include,
but are not limited to: working with students in formal and informal advisement
contexts; communicating university policies, regulations, procedures and operations;
assisting in defining objectives and planning activities for the Office of Continuing
Education; recommending solutions and/or procedures to resolve student and operational
problems; participating in recruitment activities; performing annual record
review and retention determination; maintaining liaison and scheduling semester
courses with selected departments.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree. Knowledge
of current University policies and procedures is highly desirable.

incumbent must have a through knowledge of general institutional information and
programs offered by the Office of Continuing Education.
