Preferred Qualifications:
A Master's degree in business
or public administration and five years of progressively responsible experience
in a management position, preferably in an educational setting.
ASSISTANT VICE PRESIDENT FOR
ADMINISTRATION acts as second-in- charge of the overall administrative, managerial
and business functions at a large and complex campus; does related work as required.
Aids the Vice President in supervising directing and coordinating all administrative
managerial business and related programs of a large and complex University campus
(typical programs in these areas are indicated in the Vice President specification);
assists the Vice President in relating and coordinating the administrative, managerial
and business programs with the academic student personnel research and other functions
of the campus and with SUNY System Administration; serves as Vice President when
the latter is off campus; substitutes for the Vice President at many meetings
on campus, off campus and in SUNY System Administration and with Federal and State
agencies; handles special projects and other tasks as delegated by the Vice President,
in order to relieve the latter of these assignments and conserve time; keeps the
Vice President aware of program developments, problems and so forth in the subordinate
units; aids the Vice President by studying methods and procedures in the office
and by recommending changes in management and administration.
