This title is in the unclassified service and in the SUNY Professional Services Negotiating Unit. This title is in Appendix B of Article XI of the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees and, as a consequence, incumbents serving in this title are not eligible for permanent appointment (tenure), but, instead receive renewable term appointments in accordance with the SUNY Policies of the Board of Trustees unless appointed within the "Policies" definition of a temporary appointment.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree in
Physical Education or other relevant discipline and playing or coaching background
in the sport.

ASSISTANT COACHES assist
the Head Coach in the supervision and instruction of participants in recognized
State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) sports. Sports include
baseball, basketball, cross country, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming,
track and field, tennis, volleyball, and wrestling, among other future possibilities.
They may also assist with the operation of club sports and intramural activities
on a campus. During a particular sport's season, the Assistant Coaches duties
include assisting the Head Coach at practices, scrimmages, and games; player instruction;
and ensuring team equipment is available and accounted for. Assistant Coaches
also scout future opponents and prosepective student athletes.
