Goals of the Civil Service Issue Committee:
  • To serve as a liaison group between SUNY HR and the Department of Civil Service.
  • To work with civil service on a variety of issues ranging from updating job descriptions/class standards for the classified service, reallocations, new titles, etc
  • To canvass the SUNY HR group and identify concerns, projects that might be advanced with civil service
  • To nurture a productive relationship with civil service now and for the future

Goals of the Professional Development Committee:
  • Explore development programs presently used at SUNY campuses within HR with the eye toward "sharing" those programs - perhaps on the SUNY HR website?
  • Canvas the needs of the SUNY HR group in terms of their own professional development - what are the needs? Could SUNY HR assist them in that regard by conference programming, more programs such as the Cornell Leadership program, etc?
  • Review the required training programs asked of most HR departments - sexual harassment prevention, workplace violence prevention, etc to see if there is a way we can develop innovative methods of delivering those programs… on-line?
  • Make recommendations to SUNY HR executive committee for programming/ training needs SUNY wide
  • Other projects/ideas?

Goals of the Rewards and Recognition Committee:
  • To affirm, reward and recognize members of the SUNY HR profession for their professional contributions
  • To develop new reward and recognition programs within SUNY HR that acknowledge accomplishment
  • To research what other organizations do with regard to reward and recognition and make recommendations re: what might be transferable to SUNY HR
  • To "roll out"/ announce new programs at the spring, 2004 conference
  • To revisit the Ted Barber award and make recommendations re: helping younger members of the group understand its importance and value
  • To canvass the members of SUNY HR to get their input re: reward/recognition programs that would be valued by them
  • To make recommendations re: how retirees are to recognized… by what method, when and how in order to regularize this important occasion
