SBDC
can and will meet with any for-profit small business persons or potential
small business persons. This assistance is confidential and without
charge. The Brockport SBDC can and will assist with any small business
concerns (SBDC has a extensive research library in Albany where specific
industry information can be obtained). Some of the more common requests for assistance include: 1. Start-up help: Review of all aspects you need to consider. 2. Marketing: Advisement about researching and deciding best ways to reach your customers. Assistance developing or critiquing marketing brochures, surveys, etc. 3. Personnel: Help determining employer obiligations, hiring tips, etc. 4. Bookkeeping: Assistance setting up or reviewing your existing recordkeeping systems. NOTE: SBDC cannot do bookkeeping for businesses on an ongoing basis. 5. Feasibility Study: Help looking at the big picture (market, competition, costs) to determine if your business has potential to be profitable. 6. Pricing: Assistance determining price for your product that is both competitive and profitable. 7. Purchase of Existing Business: Review information needed before purchase. Assistance evaluating business. 8. Acquiring Funding: (A step-by-step process)
11. International Trade: Advisement about getting started with importing and exporting. The SUNY Brockport SBDC also occasionally offers trainings on various business topics. Counseling Appointments are currently available in Brockport, Rochester, Batavia, Canandaigua, Greece, and Henrietta. |
