Brockport Named a 2014 Military Friendly School
G.I. Jobs Magazine Recognizes Brockport for its commitment to military students
BROCKPORT, NY—For the fifth consecutive year, The College at Brockport, State University of New York, has been recognized as a military friendly school.
G.I. Jobs, a magazine for military personnel transitioning into civilian life, has ranked Brockport among the top 20 percent of colleges, universities, and trade schools in the country, for its commitment to its military service member and veteran students.
Brockport has a number of programs and support services available for military students, including its Veterans Affairs Office, which offers all-day open walk-in appointments for veterans and dependants. The office assists veterans with utilizing their benefits and helps facilitate financial planning sessions that help veterans budget their benefits and plan for the future. It is also available to provide other support—not just to veteran students, but to faculty and staff who may have questions.
Two years ago, the College opened its Veteran Resource Center. The new center provides a wealth of materials that veterans may need as they transition to college and civilian life.
“We are pleased that The College at Brockport has again been given this honor,” said Scott Atkinson, director of enrollment services. “We are proud of our military students, be they ROTC, veterans or serving on active duty. We are thankful for what they have done for our country and that we are able to return the favor in this small way.”
