Newest students will move-in, get settled, and start giving back
BROCKPORT, NY—The College at Brockport, State University of New York, is welcoming 2,325 new students to campus this week. It’s the largest class of first-year students (freshmen and transfer students) in recent history, and an increase of 146 students over last year’s class.
Highlighted events include:
• Move-in: The majority of new residential students will arrive on Friday, Aug. 23. Students will check-in between 8:30 am and 3 pm. Brockport will continue its tradition of having faculty and staff volunteers greet them, load up their belongings, and move them into their new rooms. MEDIA NOTE: Brockport President Heidi Macpherson will be available for media interviews after 9:30 am.
• Academic Convocation: Brockport’s newest students will be formally welcomed into the College’s academic community during this ceremony, which begins at 3:45 pm in the Special Events Recreation Center (SERC). The ceremony will feature various speakers and performances.

Nearly 1,150 participants will gather behind SERC beginning at 1:15 pm and will board buses which will take them to 65 different locations around Brockport and Greater Rochester, where they’ll spend two hours doing community service.
