“Awesome!” says Elizabeth Delorme ’06, ’08 of Elmira Heights, NY, who appreciates her journey at Brockport. Delorme, a biological sciences major and chemistry minor, accomplished many goals while attending SUNY Brockport and believes her experience was unique in that, “My professors all know me on a first-name basis, there are opportunities to do high levels of research work in a close-knit environment, and the personal contact with the faculty.”

While at Brockport, Delorme had the opportunity to participate in a human cadaver research experience and present at the Rochester Academy of Sciences meeting and research with Brockport’s own Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences Laura Cook. “Dr. Cook, my master of science thesis advisor, inspired me to be excited about research and encouraged me to apply to a PhD program.”

Delorme plans to continue her education in at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. “Without my research experience, I never would have thought to pursue a PhD. I love what I’ve done at Brockport and am excited to begin my doctoral work in Pittsburgh.”
