Advisement at The College at Brockport

The advising process each semester is vital to your success as a Brockport student.

Main Page Content

Here at The College at Brockport we have a faculty-based advisement system. As a Brockport student, you are assigned a faculty advisor in your major. They will work closely with you as you proceed through your program.

For Freshmen

The instructor of your Academic Planning Seminar (APS) will be your advisor during your first semester. You may be assigned a new advisor after your first semester.

For Transfer Students

If you transfer in with more than 54 credits, you must declare a major--you'll then be assigned an advisor from that department. If you are undecided and have transferred in less than 54 credits, you will be assigned a generalist advisor.

If you have questions about academic policies and procedures and can't locate your own advisor or he/she can't locate the information you need, you can be sure you'll get an answer or an explanation in the Office of Academic Advisement.

This office provides central coordination for the advising process and is the location of the various forms necessary for dropping/adding majors, assigning advisors, and other transfer related processes.
