There are instances where you may be applying for a certification and you have not completed an Approved Teacher Preparation Program. In these cases, you will not submit a Recommendation Form or use a program code. One example of not needing to submit the recommendation form or use a program code is applying for Professional Certification if you did not complete a graduate program leading to that certification.
The following requirements must be completed within five years of the issue date of your Initial Certificate.
- Currently hold an Initial Certificate
- Earn a Master's Degree
- Complete three years of full-time teaching experience
- Complete a mentored experience
- Complete DASA training
Applying for Certificate
Apply for your certificate on the TEACH website. You will have three options to choose from when applying for a certificate.
If you have completed a graduate degree at The College at Brockport tied to an Approved Teacher Preparation Program that leads to the Professional Certificate for which you are applying, find your Program Code and enter it.
If you have completed a graduate degree at another college or university tied to an Approved Teacher Preparation Program that leads to the Professional Certificate for which you are applying, please contact that institution for further guidance.
If you did not complete a graduate degree tied to an Approved Teacher Preparation Program the leads to the Professional Certificate for which you are applying, check the "No, I have not completed..." box. You will then be able to proceed with the application without needing a code.
