Student Assembly & Line-up
Students must assemble in the Tuttle Ice Arena by 8 am. Wear your cap, gown, and honor cords (if applicable). Bring reader card with you to line-up. Make sure your reader card (enclosed with your cap & gown) is completed on both sides.
Arrive early and allow at least 45 minutes for entry into the SERC Field House as well as seating prior to the start of the ceremony. Family members and guests should be seated in the SERC Field House by 8:30 am. Bleacher and floor seating is available in the Field House. For your safety, flat shoes are recommended. Entry into the Field House is not permitted after 8:45 am, and all latecomers will be directed to the overflow viewing location.
- Balloons are not allowed inside the SERC.
- The College at Brockport is a smoke-free campus. For more information, please read our policy.
There is a four-ticket limit per student so we can be sure that all guests can be seated in the SERC Field House.
For guests without tickets: We are offering an on-campus alternate viewing location in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium in Tuttle North, where the ceremony will be streamed live.
Or, for those with friends and family that are unable to come to campus, the ceremony will be streamed live on the College’s homepage. Your friends and family will be able to watch you graduate from anywhere in the world. Make sure you invite them to join us!
Processional & Program
The student processional begins promptly at 9 am.
The name of each graduate will be read as they cross the stage and receive a diploma cover, compliments of the Brockport Alumni Association, Brockport Student Government, and the College.
The ceremony will last approximately 90 minutes.
We ask that everyone in attendance — students, family members, and guests — remain seated throughout the entire ceremony until the student recessional has concluded.
Caps, Gowns, and Tassels
All ceremony participants must wear The College at Brockport’s green Commencement gowns, caps, and tassels. They may be purchased at the Barnes & Noble College Bookstore in Seymour College Union beginning March 25. No advance order is necessary, as sizes are assigned by height. Undergraduate sets of cap, gown and tassel are $56.98. When you pick up your cap and gown set, you will receive detailed information on the Commencement Ceremony.
A reception for the new alumni, their families, guests, faculty, and staff will be held following the ceremony, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. The reception will be held in Tuttle North gymnasiums 205 and 206. This is a great opportunity for graduates, their families, and guests to meet and greet the faculty and staff. Please join us as we celebrate your success.
Announcements and Gifts
Announcements, commemorative items, and gifts are available for sale at the Barnes & Noble Bookstore. The store will be open Thursday, May 14, 8:30 am – 6 pm, and Friday, May 15, 8 am – 6 pm. For more information, call the Bookstore at (585) 395-2554.
Photographs of the Graduates
Island Photography takes photographs of the graduates as they walk across the stage. Proofs and purchase information will be mailed to each graduate's home address in the summer.
Island Photography also provides reader cards for use during the ceremony as well as identification cards following the ceremony. Graduates, be sure to fill out your reader card with correct phonetic spelling. Also, be sure to provide the permanent address of where you will be residing after Commencement for accurate delivery of your photos.
Registering with Island Photography provides the information they need to deliver your graduation proofs to you in a timely manner. Giving them an accurate mailing address and email address will allow them to get your proofs to you on the first try.
First Destination Survey
The College at Brockport, like all higher education institutions, is required to report on employment and educational outcomes for new graduates. You may be asked to complete a short survey via email or in the waiting area before the ceremony.
We will follow up with you again in the fall with a request to complete the First Destination Survey. Completing the survey will only take a few moments, and knowing what our graduates are doing is critical for the College. We use aggregate survey responses to provide required information to governmental organizations and accrediting bodies. We also use the information to continue to improve our programmatic offerings as well as to support current students and alumni in pursuing their career goals. First Destination Survey results are available online.
Please take a few minutes to respond when you are contacted. If you have any questions, please contact Career Services at firstname.lastname@example.org.
