2019 Concert Performances and Events

Tickets may be purchased online at brockportarts.universitytickets.com or at the Tower Fine Arts Center Box Office. Box Office hours are Mondays - Fridays from 9:30 am to 5 pm and Saturdays from 10 am – 4 pm, or call (585) 395-ARTS. Credit card reservations and remaining tickets will be available at the Hartwell Box Office one hour prior to scheduled performance times.

Hartwell Dance Theater features reserved seating for all performances. Please arrive early to ensure being seated by the indicated curtain time. Seating in all other venues will be by general admission.

Ticket prices: $17, $12 for senior citizens, Brockport Alumni, faculty and staff, or $9 for students, unless otherwise noted. There will be a $5 Community Preview for most events. No programs or attendance cards will be distributed at these performances, which will not qualify for student attendance.

Sometimes serious, sometimes whimsical-always compelling. Graduate and undergraduate student choreography set on the talented dancers who continue to bring acclaim to the department.


New Dancers Showcase

Date: Friday and Saturday, November 22 and 23, at 7:30 pm
Location: Rose L. Strasser Studio, Hartwell Hall
Cost: $5

The department’s new dance majors share their work. A terrific way to experience choreographic talent as it emerges.

Date: Thursday – Saturday, December 5 – 7, at 7:30 pm

Community Preview: Wednesday, December 4; 100 seats available at $5 per seat

According to City, the influence of the Department of Dance “ripples far outside Rochester’s boarders.” These concerts, in which an internationally renowned faculty presents its work, prove that the department is an “incubator for regional and national dance talent.”


MFA Thesis Concerts

The graduate dance program at Brockport merges studio-centered dance technique and choreography with dance education, aesthetics, and production. These studies balance the physical with the conceptual; this concert is the creative capstone for our graduate students.

Inspired by everything from world events to their own lives, our student choreographers mesh their choreographic vocabulary with their personal style. In the Strasser studio, the audience surrounds the works on three sides, and are able to connect with the dancers from a unique perspective.


Sankofa African Dance & Drum Ensemble

Date: Thursday – Saturday, April 30 – May 2, at 7:30 pm and Sunday, May 3, at 2 pm

Cost: Donations to the Friends of Brockport Dance scholarship fund accepted at the door.
