Mariah Maloney, Artistic Director of Mariah Maloney Dance originally from Homer, Alaska is a New York based dance artist. From 1995-2002 she performed, lectured and taught internationally as a dancer with the Trisha Brown Dance Company. Mariah is an Associate Professor at The College at Brockport, Department of Dance were she works with graduate and undergraduate students in all levels of somatic based modern; composition; improvisation; somatics; seminar and repertory. She serves as chair to MFA thesis projects and BFA honors thesis projects and has lead the Graduate Program as Graduate Program Director and MFA Advisor. Maloney earned a BFA from Purchase College and an MFA from Hollins/ADF. Maloney is invited to perform, teach and create new work in New York, throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and South America. In New York she is produced at several venues including La MaMaExperimental Theatre; The Kitchen; Judson Church; Danspace Project. Mariah Maloney Dance presented an evening length concert at Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out.
Mariah is an internationally regarded teacher. She has premiered new work at colleges including Columbia College, Chicago; The University of South Florida; Dartmouth College; Ohio University and The University of Maryland Baltimore County. She has taught at Purchase College; NYU; Hunter College; Mount Holyoke College and The University of Utah. She has served as a guest artist at Dance Ireland, Dublin, Ireland; Theatre Academy Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland; Indabi Dance Festival, Incheon, Korea; Russian Contemporary Dance Festival TSEKH Moscow, Russia; Centre National de la Danse, Paris, France; Tanzplan Dresden Muse 8 Palucca-Schule Dresden, Germany; Ballet National de Marseille Ouverture 1, Marseille, France; La Raffinerie, Brussels, Belgium; Kalamata International Dance Festival, Kalamata, Greece; Charleroi Danses, Charleroi and Brussels, Belgium; Encuentro Internacional De Danza Teatro, Santiago, Chile; Vancouver Ballet Society, Vancouver, Canada; American Dance Festival Summer/Winter Intensive.
In New York Mariah serves as faculty in workshops for the Trisha Brown Dance Companylocated at Gibney Dance Center, City Center and Peridance Capezio Center and enjoys her role as international guest artist for Trisha Brown restaging projects. She has worked with Movement Research as moderator for Open Performance and as a Studies Project Critical Correspondence panelist. In 2016, Mariah was invited to teach in the guest artist series at the Mark Morris Dance Center.
