Celebrating Writers and Writing in the Rochester Area since 1967

Main Page Content

Founded in 1967 as an ancillary to the Department of English, the Writers Forum is widely recognized as one of the outstanding reading series in the country.

A unique audiovisual project, the Writers Forum Video Library, was started in 1968 and contains hundreds of interviews, readings, and discussions of craft with major contemporary authors. The collection has been called “a national treasure” and has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Witter Bynner Foundation.

The first 30 years' worth of interviews were recorded in analog formats, and the Writers Forum is now in the process of digitizing and captioning these recordings in order to preserve them and make them widely accessible. You can help by making a donation to the Writers Forum Digitization project online or by sending a check made payable to the Brockport Foundation, with fund # 567.01 noted. We greatly appreciate your support in preserving this remarkable history.
