About the Fine Arts Series

The School of Arts and Sciences presents major theatre productions, music performances, dance concerts, and art exhibits. All events are provided for both the enhancement of our students' experience at SUNY Brockport and for the enjoyment and enrichment of the life of the community. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The College's professional affiliations with Geva Theatre Center, Rochester's professional theatre company, with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and with the Visual Studies Workshop provide numerous opportunities for entertainment and learning. In addition to performances, you'll find a series of free public lectures by Geva Theatre Center professionals.

The Mission of the Fine Arts Series

  • As a unit of the School of Arts and Sciences, the Fine Arts Series provides a cultural benefit for students, their families, the college community, and residents of Brockport and the Rochester region. With its globally influenced and socially diverse tapestry of dance, music, theatre, and visual arts, the Fine Arts Series endeavors to present events of the utmost quality that are both entertaining and challenging, utilizing a mix of both student and professional artists at an affordable price.
  • Students who participate in our events, whether onstage, backstage, or as an exhibited artist, can count on continued success in the classroom, while all audience members contribute to the broadening of the public's appreciation of the arts in general.
  • The Fine Arts Series serves as the presenter for the music concerts and supports academic departments in their public performances of dance and theatre, and visual arts exhibitions by promoting them through box office operations, public relations and marketing initiatives. It serves as a public face of the College to the general population, and local business partners, through its solicitation of program advertising and the coordination of series subscriptions.
