Dr. Afeez A. Hazzan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Healthcare Studies. He holds a doctorate in health research methodology from McMaster University, located in Canada. He also completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Medicine at McMaster University. In addition, Dr. Hazzan holds a dual-title master's degree in demography and health policy and administration from Pennsylvania State University. He earned an honors bachelor's degree (summa cum laude) from Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. Dr. Hazzan has experience working in research and healthcare organizations.
Dr. Hazzan currently serves as the principal investigator for a study examining the relationships between family caregiver quality of life and the quality of care provided to seniors diagnosed with dementia. His research has been published in prestigious journals such as The Lancet, PLoS One, Systematic Reviews, Implementation Science, the Canadian Geriatrics Journal, and BMC Nursing. He regularly presents his research findings at national and international conferences.
At Brockport, Dr. Hazzan teaches a variety of courses including statistics for healthcare professionals, managerial epidemiology, health research methods, and healthcare ethics. In his spare time, Dr. Hazzan lends his support to initiatives that promote healthy aging and overall population health.
